The kids have their first summer vacation in the US and in true American tradition they are going to be in a quite a few summer classes. Swimming, tumbling, soccer, singing and anything more I can sign them up for. And I have made a deal with them. Consistent studying will get them motorized car at the end of two months. Lets see how that plays out.

Because I am batman
"Because I am batman" is the answer to most questions starting with "why".
A2 especially says it with attitude. Its fun to see who gets who.

NOW he's a keeper mummy!
Today morning as the kids and G were getting ready to go to their MMA class, I was horsing around with them as usual and making them laugh. The exact funny thing is below, but here's A1's comment on it to her mother:
"Mummy, daddy is really funny. I'm so glad you married him"
G: Ok, are you glad he married me?
A1: You're mummy, no? Of course.
My 9 years of probation are over - I think :)
Funny thing:
A2 was attacking me with his batplane.
A2: Daddy you better watch out - this batplane is attacking you.
Me: That's ok, I'm a giant and am not hurt at all.
A2: Oh yeah, well the batplane is shooting at your heart
Me: Well since I'm a giant am not affected at all...
(Singing in tune from Julie the hindi movie)
My heart is beating..
Keeps on repeating
I'm not hurrrt by the batplane!...
A1 and A2 laugh
Then I was waiting for everyone to leave the bathroom so I can use it...
And since nobody was moving out, I started singing..
Could you please go out so I can pee..
Q, R, S and T (making tea drinking actions)
Kids like it still so I'm golden till they think I'm silly :)

Cheeky A2
Its 9 am on a holiday.. A2 is reclined on the sofa.
I feel a sudden love for him so I rush in to hug him saying (these are usually his words for hugging us):
"My own sweet A2...."
He doesnt change body posture at all and with a scornful look on his face says:
"S-AY-risously? A dinosaur attacking a pony?"
Had a good laugh at it :))

King Cake
One day there was a chocolate cake that ran away because all the kids were licking it. So it ran into the woods and stayed there. The animals didnt bother it because they were scared of it. It had birthday candles on top and it looked a bit scary. So the animals kept their distance.
Soon the cake began to feel hungry. So it thought it would sneak into the village and get some food. But it didnt know it was food itself. So it tippytoed into the village and tried to get food. But some kids saw it and tried to lick it. The cake got afraid again and ran back into the forest.
But soon it got hungry again, so it tippytoed back when the kids were in school. It went into a house and saw a bowl of cereal. Just when it was about to take it, a kid came in - he had not gone to school because he was sick. So the cake ran away again.
Then it thought, let me at least drink some water from the pond. So it went to the pond and just when it was drinking water, a lady came and said: "Hey, you a cake?" and she took a finger and stuck in the cake and licked it and said "You're yummy". What? said the cake. Are you eating me? Yes, said the woman, "you're tasty". Hey, said the cake, "You're eating me? I'm going to eat me!"
So chomp chomp chomp chomp chomp, the cake ate itself. One half of the cake ate the other half and the eaten half came back on the other side and the cake became full again!
Now he got confident. So he'd go into the village and taunt the kids: Hey kids, wanna eat some cake? Yes, they'd say. Oh yeah? well, come and get me, he'd say; and run off into the forest straight into a lion's den. The lion was scared of him bcos he looked scary, and the kids were super scared of the lion. Sometimes, he'd be cornered by kids who'd say: We're gonna eat you up, cake. And he'd say: oh yeah? you're gonna eat me? I'M gonna eat me! And he'd eat himself and come back as a full cake again.
Everyone was scared of him and they called him King Cake.
The end.

Two bedtime stories from Dec 2013
Tonight's short story:
One day a dog named Tommy was walking along. He saw a monkey and asked: "Hi can we be friends?".
Sure, said the monkey.
So Tommy asked: Whats your name?
The monkey said: "Supermonkey"
T: Why supermonkey?
M: Because I can fly?
T: Really? Show me.
So the monkey got down from the tree, wrapped its tail around the bottom and started walking away from the tree. When it was really far from the tree, it said:
See how tight my tail is?
Tommy twanged the tail and said: Yes it is tight.
The monkey then let go of the tree and TWANGG was catapulted into the air, really far away; but he came back like a boomerang, landed near the dog and said:
See? Wasnt that great?
T: yes, it really was. Can I come too?
M: Sure, I've never done it before, but we can try.
So he wound his tail again and walked far from the tree. Then at the last minute he picked up the dog and TWANGG flew far away. On the way back, the landing was bumpy but the did come back.
T: That was fun. Let's do it again!
M: Ok.
So they did it 50 times, went home, ate food and fell asleep.

Story from a few days ago
One day, a penguin was cooking on a beach. Suddenly a polar bear came to it and asked: Do you want to go hunting? Yes, said the penguin. So they went to africa to hunt elephants and lions. What about the cooking stuff, you ask (as A2 did)? Well, a hermit crab came and continued cooking. And since he liked the cooking, he took the grill home. So now wherever the crab goes its walk a little, TONGG, walk a little, TONGG :))
Anyway, penguin and the polar bear reached the forest and searched for elephants and lions. Suddenly they saw elepants and lions were dancing. The bear instantly was turned on and started dancing, but the penguin didnt dance bcos the music was not formal. He said with his coat, he needed formal music. Suddenly formal music started to play and the penguin started to dance as well. So afterwards they told the elephants and lions that they came to hunt them but they seem very nice.
You should not hunt us, you should hunt the mice, said the elephants and lions. They get into our ears, so we're afraid of them, said the elephants. They gnaw at our claws and make them weak, said the lions. So the penguin and polar bear went looking for the mice.
The came to a waterfall and something jumped into the water. It was the king of the mice. When they cornered him, he said they are actually doing a service to the elephants and lions. They clean the ears of the elephants and sharpen the claws of the lions. So the penguin and polar bear went back and told the elephants and lions, and everyone was happy.
Then the king of the mice said, since everyone is happy, let's have some good food. I know a friend who can cook well.
You know who that was?..... The hermit crab with the penguin's cooking things.TONGG!
Yum yum yum yum delicioso!

A2 doesn't like girls
A2 asks me "Why do only girls get pregnant?"
Me "Only girls have an uterus, thats why"
A2 "Then what about boy babies"
Me "Well girls can carry boys and girls in their tummy"
A2 "I hate girls"
Me "Why"
A2 "They can do more things that boys, that's why"
Well that is a full circle from when I was a kid and felt boys got to do more stuff than girls

A2 is a sneaky one
A2 is almost 4 now and he is showing quite a sneaky side.
V spotted an apple core near the staircase and asked A2 who left it there.
A2 responds "A1 was eating an apple"
V asks again "Ok, but who left the core here"
A2 says "That would be me"
A2 was playing with a car that I hadn't seen earlier and I asked him where he got it from.
He says 'Miss S gave it to me for doing good job"
I am a little suspicious. Montessori schools don't give out cars as rewards.
Later in the evening I ask him "If I call Miss S and ask her if she gave you the car will she say that is correct?"
I get an hesitant 'Maybe"
"Well, where did you get from"
"I brought it home from the YMCA"
"Uh Oh"

The treasure hunt
A1 was in trouble with me for watching more videos than she was allowed to and then lying about it.
I told her that her punishment would be no access to any screen the next day. And that the bigger punishment was that she had lost my trust. She shocked me by saying "I don't mind losing your trust and I like doing other things too so it is ok if I don't get screen time". Madam is all of six and half.
A1 then gave me a card (she is big into making cards) that said I wouldn't get any cards from her for the rest of my life. I could only react with "Thats ok. I don't mind"
I was wondering what sort of life lessons I was teaching my daughter when she suddenly handed me a paper and said it was a map to a treasure and asked me to find it. I played along and went into my room (as the map told me to) and found another map that led me to her room. She said the treasure was on the bed and as I saw her sitting there, I asked where the treasure was. She said "I am your treasure, Mummy. I am sorry I said you wouldn't get any more cards".
I guess she is too young to understand about something like trust. But in her world not giving a card is mean and she was sorry that she was mean to me. I'll settle for that.

I want to tell Mummy something
We usually put the kids to sleep in their room. Very often one or both of them will sneak back into our room. If it happens after they have been asleep a while, V and I let them get into our bed with us. If they haven't slept at all, we ask them to go back to their room and stay in bed.
One night A2 comes into our room, obviously not having slept at all and V asked him to get back into his room. He says 'But I want to tell Mummy something". V says "Ok, go ahead'. A2 scrambles into bed, lies next to me, gives me a tight hug and says "I want to sleep with you, Mummy". It would have taken a person with a much stronger will than mine to order him back to his bed after that.
