First Post

A1 and A2 are growing up so fast. A1 is 3 1/2 and A1 is almost 8 months old. I want to log all their growing up moments here cause I know that we will all enjoy reading about them in the years to come.
I have also copied some of the earlier posts from our previous blog just so that all baby posts are now on the same blog. So there are a few posts that are dated earlier that this post.
Starting with A2's morning wake up call. He has been getting up earlier these days. He has gone from 7:30 am to 6:00 am which is not very good for his sleep deprived Mom. So he wakes up today... looks at Mom and Dad... decides Mom looks sleepier and comes right at me, grabs a bunch of my hair and yanks. Mom is not so sleepy now.
He has now learned to maneuver his bottle so that he can drink from it... no more sucking at the bottom and trying to get some milk.He is adorable when he calls out to V or me to pick him up. He goes "aa aaa aaaaa" with a big smile till we pick him up. I love the way he goes on his fours and looks at me through the crib bars when I am lying on the bed. He laughs at me till I give in and pick him up. I love the way he clings at me when I pick him up.. it is a very primitive ape baby hold.
He has started talking now. A1 started with "atha tha tha tha" He goes "Bah bah bah".
A1 is speaking quite a bit now. Yesterday I told her that eating boogers was disgusting. She said "It is not disgusting at all" Wow..
I was really mad at A1 a couple of days back cause she just wasn't listening to me. I told V that I would gladly exchange her for a saucepan. A1 looked at me and I told her "That's right, I will exchange you for a non stick saucepan". She looked at me, smiled and said "You are silly" So much for that.
My kids. I lucked out :)

Latest news in A-land

A1 has been going to school for over a year now and at three and half she is quite the American. Attitude and accent. Recently Miss A, her teacher pulled her up for squirting sunscreen all over her. A1 was told that her Mummy would be informed about her bad job. A1 comes right back with "My Mummy will beat you up".
A1 and her current best friend L are forever fighting and making up. Recently, after another of their fights Miss A told them that their Moms would be informed about their bad behavior. A1 gets back with "Miss A, I want to talk to your Mummy. I am going to say you did bad job". L chips in with "What are you saying? She doesn't have a mother". I pity the teachers of Room 7.
A1's latest vocab
I very upset with you. (Said with hands crossed and very stern expression)
You meed too - You need to.
Chikli the oclus - Henry the Octupus
Haat tatato - Hot potato (From the Wiggles song)
Hole saketi - Cold Spaghetti (From same song)
Thats gusting - Thats disgusting

The all powerful bandaid

V took A1 to the nature museum and A1 managed to scrape her right hand. V convinced her to put on a bandaid against her assurances that she was fine. Once the bandaid was on, however, A1 treated the hand like it was fractured. She ate with her left hand, refused to let either of us even touch her right hand and held it in one position as though it was in a splint. Two baths later the bandaid came off and V offered to put another one on, which A1 refused outright. To convince her that it wouldn't hurt, V put the band aid on her left hand and oh look the right hand is all fine ... buuuuut... the left hand is now the unusable one. As long as the band aid remained on, A1 refused to use her left hand... the right, the one with the scrape...no problem

Scratch me so that I can complain

The whole family was in the bedroom... A1 and V were playing when A1 scratched V and when V complained, she calls me and tells me " Mummy, Daddy scratch you" meaning "Daddy scratched me". To which I said "No, he didn't. I saw you scratch him". A1 ponders over this and then tells V "Daddy scratch me"... well V touched her nose and she says "No like this" and proceeds to show how he should claw at her face... right from her forehead down to her chin. When V pretended to scratch her like she showed him, she turns to me and says "Mommy look Daddy scratched me.. Timeout". And I had to tell V that if he scratched her again, he would be put into timeout.... Like V says A2 is the baby but A1 is still the star.

Two kids... triple the work

When A1 and A2 get together, the BP around here rises substantially. A1 loves A2 to bits and her way of showing it is by hugging him, kissing him, licking his face, biting his hand and trying to carrying him. Carrying him is the most worrisome.. she handles him like a sack of potatoes. Mostly A2 is quite sportive, but when the attentions get too persistent he has no qualms about expressing his displeasure.

A1 vs A2: The early days

A2 came home day before yesterday, and into the world a day before that. He's a teeny tiny kid right now.

A1 has been super thrilled; she calls him "baby brawthwur" and follows him around. Funny things to date have been:

* wanting to be put on his changing station, and have her diapers changed. Not panties, diapers. And yes, she wants the powder treatment too.
* wanting to be swaddled, and cuddled while she fakes crying
* wanting to wear newborn clothes
* in general wanting to be a newborn herself.

And then of course, there was this moment when she got up, pulled her top up, and said "Daddy, i wan' put baby this" - pointing to her chest all the while :)). Seeing G play mother made her want to do the same, I guess
